We do not receive government funding an rely on the generosity of the South Australian public to fund research, education and support services to prevent cancer and to assist those affected by cancer. 

Current fundraising events include; Relay For Life, Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea, Daffodil Day, Race for Life, Pink Ribbon Day and Girls Night In.

Donations go directly towards research, education and support services including each year: 

• providing more than 7,500 country guests low cost accommodation during their cancer treatment in Adelaide (at Flinders, Greenhill and Seaview Lodges) 
  
  
• providing almost 6,000 bus trips to transport country people between city-based accommodation, and cancer treatment centres 
  
  
• providing more than $2 million in funding towards South Australian-based cancer research projects
  
  
• facilitating about 8,000 calls on Cancer Council Helpline 13 11 20 
  
  
• providing one-on-one telephone support to more than 450 new cancer patients 
  
  
• taking the SunSmart message to children in more than 400 early childhood centres and schools distributing 390,000 resources to cancer treatment centres, schools, workplaces, healthcare centres and the wider community 
  
  
• delivering about 300 presentations to workplace, professional and community groups 
  
  
• offering the Staying healthy after cancer workshops.
   

Cancer Council Helpline provides invaluable assistance to about 8,000 people each year.

This is done via the telephone, written correspondence, face to face visits and via Cancer Council SA’s website (www.cancersa.org.au)

Cancer Council Helpline is a service offering cancer-related information and support to all South Australians. 

Cancer Council Helpline is confidential and staffed by people with extensive training and experience in the various aspects of cancer.

The experiences of those touched by cancer vary and Cancer Council Helpline is able to provide credible, professional and web-based information and advice on a range of services and programs from Cancer Council SA to help them.

Cancer Council Helpline 13 11 20 is open from 8.30 am to 8 pm Monday to Friday in South Australia.
